Our Take

This month, we are doing something we’ve never done before: telling the story of our work.

For the last 20 years, we’ve told the stories of others. In every issue since 2006, that is what we have done — and will continue to do. But as we mark 20 years in business, we’re going behind the scenes and sharing with you how we do what we do each month.

To say this endeavor has been a trip down memory lane would be an understatement. It has made me reflect on all the wonderful people who have allowed us to become who we are today. Truly, without you — our readers, our advertisers, our sources and many others — we would have never achieved this success.

I certainly didn’t do this alone. My staff is the best in the business. I would put them up against any publishing group in the world. They are the reason this magazine is published each month. I’m also thankful for my mom, who encouraged me unconditionally in 2006 to go after my dream. She has supported me, cheered me on and cheered me up my entire life. She still does every day. I wouldn’t be here without her love. And there are so many others who have helped me along the way in this endeavor. “Thank you” is an insufficient phrase for my gratitude.

I often tell people that I truly LOVE my work. I love what I do. I love telling the stories of others. And this month, I’m honored to share the story of this publication — and I’m deeply grateful for the dream I had 20 years ago to create a place for it in this community.
