Italian Almond Torte

Hosting a dinner party? Or an afternoon tea? Impress guests with this sophisticated dessert that’s simple to make and fitting for any occasion.


¾ cup butter, melted

1½ cups sugar

2 eggs

1½ cups all-purpose flour

1½ teaspoons almond extract

1 teaspoon vanilla

½ teaspoon salt

¾ cup sliced almonds

1 tablespoon sugar


Heat oven to 350°F.


In a mixing bowl, pour sugar over melted butter, and stir until combined. Add eggs, and stir until creamy. Add the flour, almond extract, vanilla and salt, and stir until combined.


In a nonstick springform pan or greased 9-inch cake pan, spread the batter using a rubber spatula. Sprinkle almonds over the top. Sprinkle sugar over the almonds.


Bake 35-40 minutes.
